Don Jones

Curtis Don Jones, 73, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital – Waxahachie. Don was born on October 13, 1949, to Curtis and Ina Jones in Corsicana, Texas. Don met the love of his life, Lucy Bundy, while in college at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Don and Lucy were married for 46 years and raised two sons, Curt and Stan. Don graduated with his B.S. in Biology from Trinity University in 1973. He worked as a pharmaceutical salesman for over 20 years. Don was very outgoing and never met a stranger. In his free time, he loved to read, watch sports, chase his grandkids around, cookout, and be with family/friends. Some of his greatest memories included his childhood in Corsicana, playing college football, marrying the love of his life and raising his children and grandchildren. Don loved his family most of all. He was proud to be a Jones and very seldom was a story told without Don mentioning his parents, Curtis or Ina. Some of his greatest times were holidays and birthdays spent with his family. The many family traditions were something he always took pride in. Don enjoyed golfing and attending almost any sporting event; especially those his sons or grandchildren were participating in. Don was an athlete and he enjoyed sharing this passion with his family. There wasn’t a chance he wouldn’t take to go outside and throw the ball around. He was competitive and loved to play games with his loved ones. Don was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend. His wit and humor will be missed by all. Don loved to laugh and make those around him do the same. He was a confidant to many and wouldn’t hesitate to sit down and talk to you about life. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Ina, brother-in-law, Steve Erwin, sister-in-law, Margaret Dempsey, brother-in-law, Stan Bundy. Don is survived by his wife, Lucy, son Curt, son Stan (Brandy), sister Cindi Horton (Bill), brother Jeff Jones (Mandi), brother-in-law Dicky Bundy (Merri), grandchildren Addie, Brooke and Harrison Jones, along with numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Baylor Scott and White – Waxahachie and the many family and friends for all the support and prayers. Celebration of Life for Don Jones will be Friday, September 1 at 1:30pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with cousin, Cody Jenkins, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana. Pallbearers will be Badie Stewart, Sonny Yates, Jerry Libal, Dick Henson, Steve York and Mark Pratt. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck McCrory, Randy McCrory, Scott McCrory, John Zipko, and Jeff Jenkins. Memorials or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
