Dianne Conner

Dianne Conner, age 64, was welcomed into Christ's loving arms Friday, July 29, 2011 at Navarro Hospital in Corsicana. Dianne was born on August 18, 1946 in Port Arthur, TX. Dianne was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father Jack Miguez and mother Ethel Miguez both of Port Arthur. Dianne is survived by her husband of 40 years Otis Conner of Corsicana. She is also survived by her sister Danette Kimbrough and husband Tip Kimbrough of Lumberton, her daughter Corrie Bell and husband Jacob Bell of Hewitt, son Matthew Conner and wife Vanessa Conner of Forney, three grandchildren Peter, Stephen and Elisabeth Bell all of Hewitt and a host of additional relatives and friends. Dianne was a retired school teacher of 23 years from Ferris Independent School District. She was saved at the age of 24 after the car in which she was riding struck a black cow on a dark road in Port Arthur. As a result of that experience, Jesus Christ personally introduced Himself to Dianne in such a manner that forever changed her life. From that moment on Dianne was enamored with serving her Lord in every aspect of her life. She was diligent in teaching her own children about the love of Jesus Christ at a early age. For example, each morning as she drove her children to elementary school no one was allowed to talk for the entire 15 minute drive because that was her time to pray for the upcoming day. Also, during a time in which the name of Jesus was taboo in our public school systems Dianne faithfully read her Bible during her off period and lead her students in blessing before heading to the cafeteria for lunch. She also served faithfully in every church that she attended since her relationship with Christ started on the dark Port Arthur road. Her service included playing the piano, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Women's ministry and many other activities. Dianne's humble spirit and inexhaustible joy will be missed both by her friends and family. Friends wishing to make a memorial contributions may send them to Westside Baptist Church, 1522 N. 24th Street, Corsicana, TX 75110. Visitation will be 6-8pm Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be held 10am Monday at Westside Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Talbert and Dr. Bob Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jim Minick, Bernie Thompson, Sonny Armstrong, Robert Watkins, Dick Miller, Roger Powell.
