David Zenk

John “David” Zenk passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 11, 2021, one day shy of his 50th birthday. David was born May 12, 1971 in Dallas, TX. David was known to many for his vibrant, full of life personality and love for others. He never met a stranger and always had a hug for anyone nearby. David loved working. From his time at True Value to Harmony Work Center, he was a dedicated employee who loved his coworkers. He also spent many Sunday mornings volunteering in the nursery at First Baptist Corsicana where he would get to play with and love on the kids of FBC. He loved going to his Special Ministries Sunday School class with Chuck, Pam, Karen, Big Jerry, Lance, Karen, and Patty. David was a staple at the YMCA of Corsicana for many years. He made many special friends there – Ken, Imogene, Sandra, and John, just to name a few. Many times, he would tease you about not having muscles as big as his or simply question “You work out?” David was an avid athlete in Special Olympics. He competed in bocce, track and field, golf, basketball, and his favorite bowling. He bowled in a competitive Tuesday night bowling league for over 20 years. He enjoyed his McDonald’s lunches with Travis and “one coffee” with Danny. David also loved all of his 4-legged friends – Maverick, Molly, Koda, Libby, Lilah, Sophie, but most of all Sam. David is survived by his parents Karin Roberts of Corsicana and Jack Zenk of Ft. Worth, his brothers Ryan Zenk and wife Julie of Ft. Worth, Nick Zenk and wife Sara of Yukon, OK, and Stanley Roberts of Gun Barrel City, his cousins Marjorie Bentz of Corsicana, Hope Elston and husband Terry of Garland, Glenn Phillips of St. Louis, MO, Patty Fuller and husband Les of Blacksburg, VA, his girls Jessica, Krissi, and Rebecca Bentz of Corsicana, and all of his nieces and nephews. David is preceded in death by grandparents John and Irene Zenk and Martha Gross, stepfather Stanley Roberts, Aunt Ingrid Phillips, and “Big Dave” Bentz. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana. Funeral service will be 10:00am Friday, May 14, 2021 at First Baptist Corsicana with Dr. Danny Reeves officiating. Graveside to follow. Pallbearers are Ryan Zenk, Nick Zenk, Stanley Roberts, Eddie Ross, Glenn Phillips, and Terry Elston.
