Connie Hayes Lane Fielden

Connie Fielden was born on October 25, 1944 in West Columbia, Texas and she passed away on June 19, 2016 in Hillsboro, Texas. Connie was one of seven children born to L.E. Hayes Jr. (Potsy) and Mildred Hayes. She grew up in Velasco, Texas where she was involved in many school functions, including drum major for the Velasco Seagull Jr. High Band. She moved to Pisgah Ridge, west of Richland her freshman year in high school where she was the feature twirler for the Wortham Bulldogs. She met and later married Jim Lane of Wortham (son of A.J. (Dob) and Edna Earl Lane) and had three sons, Jimmy Jay Jr., Martin Darren and Donald Glenn. Connie worked in the medical field as a lab technician for 24 years. In 1983 she married W. A. Fielden (Dub), an Ag teacher form Frisco, Texas. Nana enjoyed watching her children grow into adults and going to all the grandchildren's activities including all the ball games, where Nana could be heard over the crowd. She loved to cook, bake wedding cakes, sew and tending to her flowers. Her son Jim called her Martha Stewart. She also enjoyed her family gatherings and always had plenty of food. Connie was a member of Mildred Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her bible study group and her church family. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 32 years W.A. Fielden of Corsicana, son and daughter-in-law Don and Ann Lane of Hillsboro, son and daughter-in-law Darren and Pam Lane of Kerens, son and daughter-in-law Jim and Misti Lane Jr. of Rhome; stepson Chris Fielden and daughter-in-law Shannon Andrews of Corsicana; stepdaughter, Annette Fielden of Nevada; brother Jerry Hayes of Troy; brother and sister-in-law Lex and Trisha Hayes of Corsicana, sister Leah McClendon of Lewisville, sister Carolyn Golightly of Sanger, sister Jennie Delarios of Whitesboro, grandchildren Austin Lane, Juliana Lane, Garrett Lane, Alysa Lane, Emily Lane and Perry Willet; six great granchildren and several nieces and nephews. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, L.E. Hayes Jr. and Mildred Hayes, sister Marva Zane Beasley, niece Lisa Zane Beasley, daughter-in-law Sherri Lane and granddaughter Jaylynn Lane. Pallbearers will be Mike Beasley, Walt Beasley, Kris Beasley, Reece McCollum, Sam Hayes, Lex Eric Hayes and Heath Hayes. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6;30 - 8:30 pm at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery.
