Charles "Charlie" Eugene Sikes

Charles Eugene "Charlie" Sikes, Sr., age 67, passed away on January 1, 2026, in Cotulla, Texas. Born on February 14, 1958, in Corsicana, Texas, Charlie lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and an unmatched talent for fixing the seemingly unfixable. Charlie graduated from Fairfield High School in 1977 and soon after began a distinguished career in the United States Air Force. Serving as a Sergeant and airplane mechanic at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, he honed the skills that would define much of his life’s work. A master mechanic and expert tradesman, Charlie had an extraordinary gift for repairing anything others deemed beyond saving. His hands could bring machines back to life, and his ingenuity earned him admiration from all who witnessed his craft. From a young age, Charlie was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Streetman. His faith remained a steady presence throughout his life. Charlie shared 48 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Tonia Sikes. Together they built a strong and loving family that was the center of his world. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Christina Wright and her husband Shane; his son Charles "Bubba" Sikes; grandchildren Karissa “KK” Childs, Kourtney Wright, AJ Sikes, Tori Moore, Hannah Zeidler, Shyan Conklin, Michael Shouse, and Josh Shouse; as well as numerous great-grandchildren who brought him joy. He is also survived by his brothers Thomas Sikes and Carlton Howell; sister Doris Van Dyke; uncle Leslie Sikes; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity. Charlie was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Howell; stepfather Hulen Howell; father Elvis Sikes; grandmother Eula Sikes; and uncle Donald Sikes and his wife Louise. Those who knew Charlie will remember him as larger than life—a man whose presence filled every room he entered. Whether under the hood of a car or lending a helping hand to someone in need, he gave fully of himself with skillful hands and a generous heart. Funeral services are pending at this time.
