Carter Hart

Carter C. Hart was born July 9, 1924 in Cisco Texas, entered into eternal life on May 10, 2010 following a lengthy illness. Carter was born to James A. and Eula Carter Hart and raised along with 5 brothers and 3 sisters in the Alameda community. Carter was married on March 12, 1946 in Ranger, Texas to Joy Beardon and together they raised the five little Hart girls. Family was everything to Carter, second only to an abiding faith in his Lord and Savior. His career spanned 60 years including early stints in farming, truck driving and building airplanes during World War II. He spent 35 years at Gulf Oil/Chevron working his way up fron diesel delivery to terminal management. Following his retirement from Chevron, he worked 14 years as a safety supervisor for Watkins Construction. He is preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Eula Carter Hart; brothers, James, Jack, Glenn, Neil Don and RD; sisters, Foye Mahaffey and Beth Ragsdale. His beloved daughter Joan Marie who left this world at the age of 21 was surely rejoined with her daddy at moment he entered the kingdom of God. Surviving Carter is his sweetheart, best friend and devoted wife of 64 years, Joy, his only survivng sibling his sister Wanda Ruth Donohue of Cowetta, Oklahoma and daughters, Carol Gilbert of Arlington, Rita Hart of Corsicana, LeeAnn Collins of Grand Prairie and Lana Warren of Humble, Texas. The husbands of his daughters automatically became sons to Carter. Those proud sons are Willy Gilbert, Bryan Collins and Ed Warren. He leaves behind 15 grandchildren, Carey, Tempy and Carter Gilbert, Caron and John Paul Crumley, Eric, Jason and Kristal Collins, Heather and Jeffery Reeves, Sean, Tonya, Joshua and Amanda Davault and Scott Willis. One of his greatest blessings was living long enough to meet his great grandchildren who will always remember "Great Papaw". Those 11 little blessings are; Keld Gilbert, Christian, Ava, Olivia, Zachary, Kaitlyn and Addison Collins, Anthony, Tyler, Nicholas and Chloe Davault. Carter was an educated man with numerous certifications in mine, construction and oilfield safety. He had a desire to seek out information and was able to converse intelligently on almost any subject. His concern and love for this country lead to writing and publishing of his book a wake-up call to America entitled "The Age of Folly". At the time of his passing, he was working on his second book about the history of the Hart family. His heart was pure and his belief in what was right and wrong was granite certain. Carter Hart was a man of great conviction willing to take a stand for his beliefs, faithful to his principals and dilegent in his worship and bible study. His infectious spirit was contagious - never meeting a stranger and never leaving anywhere without a new collection of friends. Carter Hart had a God giving gift of seeing the best in people, and thereby encouraging them to believe the best of themselves. He loved the adventure of discovery and more so sharing his discoveries with those he cherished. All of his children, and grandchildren surely understood the thrill of a rock hunt, those long wandering "short-cuts", camping in the majesty of God's creations and thousands of miles logged in the back of various station wagons. We will each miss him until our last days and until then will carry the teachings, the laughter and the love that was and will be Carter Hart in each of us.
