Carlos Thomas

Carlos Franklin Thomas, formerly of Corsicana and Mabank, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the age of 79. Visitation with the family will be from 6 - 8pm Tuesday evening at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 1pm at the Mildred Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Neal and Bro. George Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Campbell - Elrod Cemetery with pallbearers being his nephews Dennis Thomas, Larry Don Thomas, Ronald Thomas, Gavin Allen, Harvey Waller and Tracy Wadsworth. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons. Carlos was bon on July 26, 1934 in the Jester Community in Navarro County to Wade Davidson Thomas and Vera Gladys Staggs Thomas. He married Lola Eva Mosley on August 11, 1954 in Mildred. Carlos worked as a police officer in Snyder, Texas and later in the police reserves when he began a career as a truck driver. He attended the Mildred Baptist Church and the Tundra Baptist Church where he loved to sing in the choir and help out where needed. Carlos had lots of activities in his life like hunting and fishing with his family and teaching his children how to garden. But playing golf three times a week was how he spent his time lately and was excited to score a hole-in-one. He is preceded in death by his parent Wade and Vera Thomas, his wife of 47 years Lola Eva Thomas, sons Carlos Franklin Thomas and Dane Davidson Thomas and brothers Wade Lee Thomas, James Harvey Thomas, Windol Royce Thomas, Jackie Dale Thomas and Ronald Gene Thomas. He is survived by his children Valerie Riley and husband Steve of Forest Burg and Gladys Bright and husband Darin of Bedford. Grandchildren Jacob Riley of Forest Burg, Jeffery Riley and wife Maxine of North Richland Hills, Jeremy Riley of San Antonio and Corey Ryder of Bedford. Great grandchildren Christian Riley, Noble Riley, Anna Hensarling, Chris Thomas, Stormy Thomas and McKenzie Thomas. Siblings, Larry Thomas of Mabank, Don Earl Thomas of Lancaster, Beth Allen of Austin, Gwen Faulk and husband Marshall of Millington, TN., Renee Waller and husband Ernest of Andrews and Deene Wadsworth of Midland. He is also survived by special great nieces Destiny and Chloe and numerous nieces, nephews, cherished family and friends and other loved ones.
