Carlos Garza

Carlos Vera Garza went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 11, 2008. His health struggles have been long and the Lord knew he was ready to find his rest. Carlos was born on May 11, 1941 in Alice, Texas to Carlos and Virginia Garza. He was a longtime member of the Dawson Masonic Lodge. When his health was good he loved attending the Blue Lodge meetings. He was also a Shriner holding a 32ND Degree. Carlos worked with children through the KaremTemple as a clown for many years. Carlos drove a tanker truck for Gulf Oil and Coastal for many years until an accident rendered him unable to operate a truck. His family and friends were the light of his life. He loved to joke and cut up with every one making them laugh. He kept everyone around him entertained. Carlos is survived by his wife Mary Garza of Corsicana. Eight children: Bonita Shelton of Waco, Paul Garza and wife Eliza of Corpus Christi, Carlos J. Garza of Waco, Brenda Bailey and husband Michael, Veronica Morales, Anabel Garza, Jennifer Garza, and Denise Garza all of Corsicana. Seventeen grandchildren: Jason and Robyn Shelton of Waco, Stephanie Shelton and Dana of Cedar Park, Luis Garza of North Carolina, Alicia Garza of Rockwall, Gaberiella Garza of Chatfield, Christina Garza, Ana Lisa Garcia, Paul Garza II of Corpus Christi, Julie Bailey of Addison, John Bailey, Jeremy Bailey, Douglas Bailey, Jody Bailey, Bradley Bailey, Tiffany Bailey, and Joel Morales all of Corsicana. Two great grandchildren: Alexis Garza and J.R. Garza of Rockwall. One brother Noah Garza of Seagoville. He was preceded in death by his father Carlos Garza Sr. of Houston and mother Virginia Maruquin of Seagoville, and son-in-law Danny Shelton of Waco. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Schane officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Amos Massey, Jody Bailey, John Bailey, Koy Cofer, Tim Dickerson, Javier Aguilar, Tony Morano, and Jason Shelton. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Kadell Home Health Agency. His nurse Angie Powell and his CNA Earnestine Hailey. The Navarro Regional Hospital ICU Staff and Dr. Keith Rigsby.
