Bryson Morrison

Bryson Namath Morrison was called home by our Lord on Friday, March 2, 2018. He was born on August 2, 1973 in Kansas City, Missouri , to Vicky and Larry Morrison . His life is celebrated by all that know the Morrison family and Bryson. Bryson was a brilliant student, an avid tennis player, Golf lover, a dedicated father, a loving brother, a diligent son, a dear friend to many, and a servant of God. Anyone that knew Bryson knows of his love for the Kansas City Chiefs and Cross Fit. He loved music, sports trivia, and non-mainstream movies! He could go from on an extreme of intellectual discussion to getting down on the floor and playing with children within a moments notice. Bryson liked to tell stories about his amazing time in London after graduating from University of Texas Arlington. Upon returning from his adventures in Europe he found his true calling and began working for Rawlings Sporting Goods in Missouri, his home state. After a great run with Rawlings and a lot of time traveling to new places, he decided it was time to return back to his roots and began working at the family business, McKee Lumber. Voluntarism: The use of or reliance on voluntary action to maintain an institution, carry out a policy, or achieve an end. This defines Bryson Morrison! He was a board member of the Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, board of directors of the Corsicana Country Club, President of the Men’s Golf Association, and proudly served as the President of the Board of Directors at the YMCA . He was a beloved son of our great City. As co-chair of the 2014 CISD Bond Committee, he worked hard to successfully pass a bond that included the building of the new middle school as well as safety and security upgrades across the district. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Morrison and maternal grandfather Harold McKinley. In addition to his parents, Bryson is survived by Gillian Stroud Morrison and his son Gavin, his sister and brother in law Cassie and Tim Young, sister Jessica Holden, nieces Emily and Madeline Young, and Mackie Holden and nephew Evan Holden, his grandmothers Joan McKinley and Faye Morrison and numerous aunts uncles, and cousins. Bryson will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, his quick wit, his compassion for others, his desire to improve the lives of those he touched, his ability to do so, his love for Corsicana and his family, and his passion for life. He will be deeply missed by so many friends, and all of us who had the gift of sharing time with Bryson throughout his life, those of us who knew and loved his heart, and those of us who knew his struggle. May he rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord. A visitation is planned for Monday, March 5th at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. A celebration of life is planned for 11 am Tuesday, March 6th, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, at 320 N. 15th Street, Corsicana, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the YMCA of Corsicana, 400 Oaklawn, Corsicana, TX 75110.
