Brenda Kay Lewis

Brenda Kay Rogers Lewis passed away on May 13th, 2014 in Athens, Texas from heart complications. She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her greatly. Brenda worked 35 years for Navarro Regional Hospital as a lab tech and over their blood bank for many of those years. She loved taking care of the sick and took great pride in her work. She made many friends while doing that job and loved them all. Brenda Kay was born January 13th, 1952 in Corsicana, Texas to Jody and Joyce Rogers. That was a Friday the 13th and she was a middle child also; which proved to be a dual challenge during her life. She got all the broken bones falling out of trees or jumping off the roof. Brenda also got all the stitched cuts and had the scars to prove it. She always bounced back like a champ and the family swore she really did have 9 lives. As she aged the accidents and illnesses got more serious, but she always fought her way back from the brink of death until the morning of 5/13/14. On that day she was ready for the home God had for her in Heaven and she decided to go home to him. Brenda Kay is survived by son, Matt Lewis and Shelly Martin, daughter Wendy Ragan, grandkids, Meghan Knott and Stefani Knott, Paige Ragan, and Tristan Lewis. She is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Harold Prater, brother and sister-in-law Mike and Stacy Rogers, nephews Trey Hedrick and Justin Rogers, plus stepmother Barbara Rogers Eisenman. She also left behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who also loved her greatly. Brenda Kay was preceded in death by Jody and Joyce Rogers, sister Linda Gail, and nephew Shea Rogers; plus a host of other beloved family members waiting for her arrival to the gates of Heaven. "Thou she did pass through the valley of death, she feared no evil because her Lord and savor Jesus Christ had her by the hand." Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1:30 pm Friday, May 16, 2014 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Badie Stewart, Ivan Webb, Mike Rogers, Justin Rogers, Billy Hatley, Harold Prater.
