Bonnie Lou Rhoads

Bonnie Lou Rhoads left this earth to begin her Heavenly journey on Dec 23, 2014. Born on January 23, 1923 in Roane, Texas, Bonnie was the youngest child of Hilliard Reese and Ada Frost. Through the years her sister and four brothers migrated to California, but Bonnie chose to remain in her beloved Corsicana. Bonnie lived a rich, full life in Corsicana, until failing health required a move to Frisco, Texas to be near the family. Her sweet, caring personality enabled her to quickly adapt to her new home. On March 31, 1944, she married Herman Emory Rhoads. The life they shared lasted 55 years, until his death on November 9, 1999. They were blessed with two daughters, Janice Marie Dixon of Frisco and Joyce Ann Gaines of Dallas. Bonnie was affectionately referred to as “Ne Ne” by two grandchildren and four great grandchildren, whom she adored. Naturally the adoration was mutual. Cheryl Renee Deeds and her husband, Bailey Aaron Deeds live in Clarksville, Tennessee with their children, Nicholas Aaron and Kayla Marie. Michael Edward Dixon and his wife Kristen Leigh Dixon reside in Frisco, Texas with their children, Caleb Alexander and Emma Claire. Bonnie enjoyed her church family at United Methodist Church where she was active in numerous volunteering efforts, including Meals on Wheels. When she was no longer able to deliver food, she continued to cook for those less fortunate. Her interest in archaeology led to a lifelong hobby of collecting and enjoying Indian artifacts. Other hobbies included collecting antiques, which she proudly displayed throughout the home. Baking pecan pies and Depression Era muffins for family and friends was a source of joy for her, as well as the recipients. All who knew Bonnie would agree that she was a strong, active person with a sweet, giving spirit. Bonnie was full of grace and she was a friend to everyone who crossed her path. She lived her life serving others, while putting her needs and wishes last. Bonnie was truly a blessing to family, friends and community. Her life was well lived. A family service was held Friday, December 26, 2014.
