Bonnie R. Cox, a loving and proud mom, a tolerant mother-in-law, a devoted sister, a fun-loving aunt, and a fabulous grand and great-grandmother passed from her earthly duties to her much deserved reward early Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 A visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, Jan. 4th at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, while the Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, Jan. 5th at Northside Baptist Church in Corsicana, Texas. The burial will be later that day at Waco Memorial Park in Waco, Texas at 4:00 pm. Bonnie retired from the Social Security Administration after 30+ years of service. But many will remember her as the owner of the Merle Norman Cosmetic Boutique in Richland Mall. She spent ten happy years managing the store with her dear friend Hollie Hahn. Bonnie was born in Bell County, Texas to Harvey and Eloise Renick, an early ranching family of Killeen, Texas. She graduated from Killeen High School and attended Temple Junior College. Bonnie married Lawrence Cox, her high school sweetheart. The couple settled in Waco where they reared Larry and Mike. They were active in all facets of their children's school-life at Midway. Bonnie and her family were early members of the First Baptist Church of Woodway. Bonnie was always an active church worker; in fact, she had accrued the largest total of volunteer hours at First Baptist before her move to Northside in Corsicana. She continued her volunteer work in Corsicana giving unselfishly of her time to the Red Cross and to the Care Center. Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband Lawrence, and niece Janet Tynes. She is survived by her two sons, Larry Cox and wife Barbara of Austin; Mike Cox and wife Karen of Corsicana; as well as her two grandchildren, Timothy Cox and wife Lori of Blanco; Shawn Cox and Hedwika of Houston; and great-grandchildren Madelyn, Mason and McCall of Blanco. Bonnie's life was also blessed by her sister Dorothy Blair, her grand-nieces Jennifer Burdette and Jana White, their families and her nephew Bill Blair and his wife Jackie of Ft. Worth. She is also survived by a grand-nephew, Randy Blair of Ft. Worth. We will miss her beautiful, helping hands, her eagerness to teach and to encourage, her unmatched energy to grasp life with a joyous spirit, and her welcoming, hospitable smile, not to mention her terrific cooking!! Memorials may be made to the building fund at Northside Baptist Church of Corsicana or to a charity of your choice.
