Bernice - Fairfeld

Hixie Bernice (Little) Snider 1926-2012 Bernice Snider,86 of Fairfield passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in Baylor's Dick and Jane Hamilton Center in Dallas. Services will be Sunday, August 19, 2012 at 2:30pm at Calvary Baptist Church, Fairfield and interment will be in the Fairfield Cemetery with Terry Skinner officiating. Visitation will be at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Friday evening 6-8pm. Bernice was born January 31, 1926 in Tennessee Colony, Anderson County, Texas to Lillie Era (Huffman) and George Hicks Little. When Bernice's brother, Charles was born, Lillie died. He was adopted by Dickie Huffman and grew up in Palestine. Bernice was then reared by her grandparents, Carolina "Carrie" Lenora Graser and Bowen Springs Huffman. She married Patrick Delaney Cook, Jr. To this union two children were born: Patrick Delaney "Jerry" Cook III and Robert Cook. She met Eddie in Palestine and later married Eddie Grey Snider of Wortham on August 8, 1947. They had three children, Barry, Carey and Ted Snider. She worked as a seamstress and was known for her cheerful and pleasant personalily. She loved children and served in the nursery of Calvary Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of the Victory Sunday School class. Her greatest treasure was her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved very much. Mrs. Snider was preceded in death by spouse Eddie Snider; son Robert Cook; brother Charles LIttle Huffman; granddaughter Connie Cook; and grandson Eddie John Snider. She is survived by four children, daughter and son in law Carey and Mark Chavers of Fairfield; three sons and their wives, Patrick "Jerry" and Barbara Cook of Rusk, Barry and Paula Snider of Fairfield, Ted and Jeanie Snider of Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Josh Cook and wife Kayla of Rusk, Amy and husband David Scurlock of Georgetown, Amile Snider of Fairfield, Brian and wife Christy Chavers of Fairfield, Adam and wife Pam Chavers of Faifield, Wendy and husband Tommy Neyland of Centerville, Joseph and Sarah Snider of Fairfield, Tammy Snider of Austin; eleven great grandchildren, Mandy Chavers, Lucas Chavers, Wade Neyland, Abigail Neyland, Kaydence Neyland, Jacob Chavers, Rachel Chavers, Emily Scurlock, Casey Scurlock, Molly Scurlock, Morgan Snider. Pallbearers will be Bryan Chavers, Adam Chavers, Amile Snider, Tommy Neyland, Wade Neyland, Lucas Chavers, Josh Cook, David Scurlock, Joseph Snider. Memorial may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
