B. J. Coker

B. J. (Billy Joe) Coker loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother uncle, and friend passed from this life and entered his eternal life on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Twilight Home in Corsicana. Since becoming a resident of Twilight on April 28th, he has been constantly surrounded by his family and friends. B.J. was a lifelong resident of Navarro County having graduated from Corsicana High School in 1958. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years Ann, his daughters who were the light of his life, and their husbands, Diane and Larry Acock and Carolyn and Randy Schweyher. Survivors include his grandson and his family Craig and Alyssa Milner, Caroline and Jack; and his granddaughters Jennifer Mills, Natalie and Weston; Jordan and Justin Campbell and Kayla; his brother Jim Coker and wife Camille, sister Elizabeth Bryant, sister-in-law Anita Coker, and aunt Geneva Speed. He was also "Pop" to his step grandchildren and their families: Lauren and Zach Babb, Hunter and Madelyn; Leslie and Joe Dickinson, Hannah, Naomi, Malachi, and Esther; Lana and Michael Montgomery; Jenni and Jacob Gore, Charlie and Axel; and Tarah Schweyher and Logan. He was an uncle to ten incredible nieces and two nephews that he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents Olen and Willie Lee Coker, a brother James Coker, brother-in-law James Bryant, and a grandson-in-law Greg Mills. B. J. was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for the past 63 years and served as an Elder and also on numerous committees. His church family was an important part of his life. His lifelong vocation as a rancher was something he enjoyed immensely. Taking care of God's creation was what he considered his duty and a privilege. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved sports-- especially following the Corsicana High School Tigers. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Dale Campbell, Dr. Melissa Carry, Dr. Ashwani Agarwal and his staff at Texas Oncology; the nurses in Navarro Regional Hospital Out-Patient who gave him blood transfusions almost weekly; the staff at Twilight Home, and most recently the nurses with Bristol Hospice particularly Kristi Pollard; for their excellent care and compassion. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 20 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. both at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Interment to follow at Hamilton Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Brewer, Gilbert Hall, Jeff Kelley, Kenny Kolkhorst, Mike Miller, David Phillips, Chuck Rash, Marvin Reader, and J. R. Wagner. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dave Campbell, F. A. Coleman, Al Fisher, Roy Ragsdale and Ron Stewart. Ushers will be Dick Aldama, Ken Cavanaugh, Don Denbow, Joe Hill, John Jackson, and Bill Maupin. Memorial contributions in B.J.'s name may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church. .
