Arthur Patrick

Arthur N.S. Patrick Jr. passed away on November 26, 2010 at Providence Hospital in Waco. He was born January 20, 1920 in Waco to Arthur N.S. Patrick and Effie Middleton Patrick. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris Fay Ivy Patrick of Richland; son Stephen Patrick of Santa Fe, New Mexico; daughter Ann Littrell and husband Lee Edward Littrell, Sr of Corsicana; grand children Selena Mathis and husband Marshall Mathis Jr. of Richland and Lee-Edward Littrell Jr of Corsicana; great grandchildren Makenzia Mathis and Marshall Mathis III of Richland. Mr. Patrick's father was a telegrapher for the Southern Pacific Railroad, which caused the family to be transferred from Texas to Louisiana and then back to Texas. His summers were spent near Richland working for his grandfather. Mr. Patrick graduated from Brownsville High School and Brownsville Junior College. He attended the University of Texas in Austin while in college he won the prestigious Loving Cup of College for debate. He was then called to service by our nation during World War II in which he served 4 years in the U.S. Army Air Force. He served in the Mediterranean and North Africa and Middle East theaters. He set into operation the Allies Meterological Weather Station in North Africa for which he received the prestigious award of The Legion of Merit. His other awards included Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars; World War II Victory Medal and Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII. After the war he lived in Wyoming until the request came from family members to return to Richland to help with the family business. Mr. Patrick served as a director for the First National Bank in Richland in 1959. The bank moved to Corsicana in 1964 and became the Corsicana National Bank. Over the years Mr Patrick has served in some capacity in Corsicana National Bank and Trust, First National Bank of Wortham, Powell Bank, First National Bank of Fairfield and Bank of Eustace. Arthur Patrick spent many years being active in the Navarro County Historical Society. He served as president for two terms. He was named Historian of the year 1982. He also served on the Navarro County Historical Commission. He was a active longtime member of the Richland Methodist Church serving as Treasurer and Chairman of the Board. Mr Patrick also served as Mayor of Richland and was on the City Council for several years. In his later years he enjoyed ranching and wildlife. He won the Outstanding Wildlife Conservation Award for Freestone County and Leon County in 1987. Visitation will be from 4-6pm Tuesday, Nov. 30th at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, Dec 1st at 2:00pm in Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nancy Schusler, Bruce Thomas and Rev Charles Kelly officiating. Pallbearers will be Phillip Ivy, Jay Tidwell, Troy Hudson Jr., Robert New, Jessie Jones, Gary Summeral and Kyle Ward. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Stites, Lyle Red, Warren Awalt, Tim Cooper, Sydney Ivy and Mackie Ivy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Richland Methodist Church P.O.
