Alice Bell

Alice Priscilla Barham Bell of Blooming Grove, was led Home by her Lord and Savior on May 16, 2010 after suffering years with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on November 14, 1940 in Corsicana to Robert and Opal Barham. Alzheimer's took away a lot of things from our dear Mother, but never her love and faith in her sweet Jesus! She was always there for her children and grandchildren offering them encouragement and words of faith and wisdom which will be missed, but will also be passed on for generations. She is survived by her three children, Dana Stubbs and husband Norman of Corsicana, Cody Bell and wife Rashelle of Midlothian and Sherri Wilkinson and husband Darrell of Blooming Grove; grandchildren, Megan Wilkinson, Zachary Wilkinson, Jarod Wilkinson all of Blooming Grove and Cody Bell II of Ennis, Whitney Evans of Midlothian and Matthew Benson of Minnesota; three nephews, Jimmy Fuller, Mark Hambrick, Michael Hambrick and two nieces Barbara Rice and Kay Bottoms. Alice was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Opal Cook Barham; sisters, Dorothy Clarkston, Bobbie Fuller and Wanda Hambrick; one grandchild, Kady Marie Bell, one nephew, Gary Hambrick and a husband Bobby Dan Bell. Her passion was music and she expressed her love and faith in Jesus Christ in the poetry and songs lyrics she wrote. She loved to sing praises to Lord as she played the piano by ear. She enjoyed seeing God's amazing beauty in her flower garden and also found great joy in bird watching. She also had a love for history and genealogy and took great pride in her family heritage. She always showered her family and friends with love and compassion and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a recovering alcoholic and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous with over 32 years of sobriety. She was devoted to helping so many other recovering alcoholics and touched so many lives in her sobriety years. The family wished to thank Family First Hospice of Ennis for always being there for them and for the care and comfort they provided for their dear Mohter in her last month in life. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00am Thursday, May 20th at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Kirk Curry officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Blooming Grove.
