Victor Heeke

Victor C. Heeke, 69, of Corsicana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, May 30, 2016 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He was born on September 15, 1946 to Ann and Leonard Heeke in Dodge City, Kansas, the oldest of seven children. He graduated from Kapaun Memorial Catholic High School in Wichita, Kansas in 1965. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Sembach Air Base, Germany. In 1969 he met and married his love for the next 47 years, Linda. After Germany, Victor was assigned to Lackland AFB and Randolph AFB where their two daughters, Renata and Cecilia were born. After Victor’s military duty he and Linda settled in Houston where Victor was a Plant Supervisor for a steel fabrication company for 30 years. While living in Houston, Victor enjoyed playing golf, wood working, and traveling with Linda. Victor loved hosting his extended family for backyard barbecues and swim parties. Victor and Linda moved to Corsicana in 2002 to be near his grandchildren. He retired in 2010. Victor’s favorite spot was his bar stool in his garage where many friends would honk and stop by to visit. He was an avid poker player, enjoyed weekly dominoes, and looked forward to eating lunch with Linda every day on her lunch break. He was a devoted parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Victor’s Catholic faith sustained him as he continued to be challenged with physical disability. He overcame pain to learn to walk, drive, and maintain his independence until his passing. Victor never met a stranger, enjoyed good conversation, and was the life of the party. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Leonard Heeke, and brothers Dennis and Leonard Jr. He is survived by wife Linda Heeke of Corsicana; daughter Renata Saucedo and her husband Dr. Joe Saucedo of Corsicana; daughter Cecilia Wagnon and her husband Vincent Wagnon of Midlothian; grandchildren Anthony and Gabriella Saucedo of Corsicana, step-grandchildren Madison (Wagnon) Hernandez, Zachary Wagnon, Tyler Wagnon of Midlothian. Brothers Lester Heeke and his wife Christine of Cocoa, Florida; Timothy Heeke and his wife Brenda of Cocoa, Florida; sisters Cheryl Kight and her husband Don of Titusville, Florida; Carla Dean and her husband Joe of Titusville, Florida; beloved LaFuente in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, followed by Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Corsicana, Texas with Father Jason Cargo and Father Marco Rangel concelebrating. Interment services following at Calvary Cemetery, Corsicana, TX. The family extends sincere gratitude to the nurses and doctors of Navarro Regional Hospital and Baylor University Medical Center Neuro ICU Unit for their compassionate and exemplary care.
