Timothy Clayton Smith

Timothy Clayton Smith, 45, went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2015. He was born November 19, 1970 to Clayton and Dorothy Smith in Corsicana, Texas. He will be greatly missed as his servant's heart left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He is resting in peace now with his Lord. He was a graduate of Midway High School in Waco. He attended Navarro College and McLennan County Community College. He earned his BBS in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University and worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice during that time. Upon graduation from SHSU he entered the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy in Austin, Texas and graduated as a State Trooper. He faithfully and proudly served the State of Texas through the DPS for 21 years. He promoted through the ranks as a Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and finally a Major with the DPS. He attended many training schools during his career including the Northwestern University Traffic Institute. He was currently serving as a Major in the Emergency Management Division of the Department of Public Safety. If you knew Tim, you already know he loved his family. He loved to watch his kids play sports and was completely satisfied behind the wheel of a tractor on the pastures that his grandfather and father before him plowed. He loved his profession with a passion and loved his law enforcement family. He is survived by his wife, Julie Smith; sons, Jared and Braden Smith; daughter, MacKenzie Smith; his parents, Clayton and Dorothy Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Mike McCary; sister and brother-in-law, Sherri and Paul Warner; niece, Emily Gentry and husband Brad; nephews, Drew McCary, Josh Warner and wife Andie, Tyler Warner and wife Cari; great nephews, Jack Gentry and Luke Warner; great niece Annabelle Gentry; mother and father-in-law, Jerry and Norma Pickens; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Steven Steen; nieces, Madison, Mallory and Miley Steen. Many thanks goes to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Navarro County Sheriff's Department and Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Our family is grateful and appreciative to you for your outpouring love for Tim and our family. He was loved by so many as he loved so many of you, his law enforcement family. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 16th from 6 - 8 pm at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, December 17, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Corsicana. Burial will be at Grape Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the Texas Department of Public Safety Honor Guard. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
