John DeFrance

John DeFrance of Fairfield, TX passed away at his residence on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the age of 62. He was born in Palestine, TX. to Franklin DeFrance and Sarah Stoffels DeFrance on April 1, 1953. John married Helen Hendrix on October 1, 1977 in Denton, TX.. He recently retired at the end on March this year from Big Brown as a mechanic after 37 1/2 years. He was a member of the St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield. He enjoyed investigating the history of Freestone County by spending countless hours at the courthouse. He was at home in the country raising cattle and spending time outdoors hunting hogs and taking pictures of anything that might happen that day. He kept a calendar at home writing down the days events and who he may have met or visited with that day. John's most enjoyment came from his family his wife and children and especially his grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Sarah DeFrance and a sister Shirley DeFrance. He is survived by his wife of almost 38 years Helen DeFrance of Fairfield. Children; Christy Pierce and husband Jason of Cranfills Gap, Michael DeFrance and wife Meagan of Fairfield, Jason DeFrance and wife Tara of Fairfield and Kimberly DeFrance of Dallas. Grandchildren; Merritt, Caiden, Jaidyn, Harper and Corbin. Siblings; Ron DeFrance and wife Debbie, Ken DeFrance and wife Karen, Billy DeFrance and wife Norma Dale, Mark DeFrance and wife Glisa, Trish Barnett and husband Roger, Thomas DeFrance and wife Andrea, Margaret White and Norma Bond and husband Joe. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family members. Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 6pm in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield. Visitation with the family will follow from 7 - 9pm in the Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10am at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield with Monsignor Zacharias Kunnakkattuthara as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery with Ryan Bond, Jared DeFrance, Jacob DeFrance, Matthew DeFrance, Brent Scott, John Hendrix and Bill Hendrix serving as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church.
