Dorothy Edling

Dorothy June Edling, 87, passed on to be with the Lord October 17, 2011. Our dear sweet mother was loved and cherished by those who knew her. Leaving our side with aching hearts, there will forever be an empty church choir chair, stadium seat, club position, and ever-supporting family member who cannot be replaced but will always be remembered. She had the heart of a servant who willingly and gladly helped everyone around her. As a dedicated member of the Westminster Presbyterian church, her heart and soul were faithfully committed to live for the Lord. After graduating from the University of Nebraska, the college sweethearts started the family which now spreads to all corners of the United States; starting with the oldest, Jack Allen Edling in 1950, followed by David William Edling, Barbara Gaye Edling Stockwell, Thomas Miller Edling, and Daniel Fredrick Edling. Along with successfully raising her five children, she also had a long, distinguished career as a school teacher and in service to her community. Following her retirement, she increased her commitment to volunteering and in service to the Lord. Her greatest passion was serving the Westminster Presbyterian Women Organization. Family being so dear to her heart was the driving force for every holiday gathering and get-together. Attending every one of her kids and grandkids school and sporting events was another one of her passions. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Jack and Cora Bell Miller. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Gaylord Edling; brother Fred Miller and wife Carlene from Lincoln, Nebraska; sister Marilyn Donovan and husband Bill from Rogers, Arkansas; son Jack from Fenton, Michigan; son Dave and wife Deborah from Mesquite, Texas; daughter Barbara from The Woodlands, Texas; son Tom and wife Heidi from San Diego, California; and son Dan and wife Suzann from Corsicana, Texas. Grandchildren include Jake Edling and wife Missy, Ben Edling, Nick Edling; Erin Edling Williams and husband Shane, Nathan Edling, Josh Edling; Kyle Stockwell, Emily Stockwell; Margaret Edling, John Edling, Andrew Edling; Jill Edling, Chris Edling. Great-grandchildren include Ethan, Isaac, and Kade Williams; Ahava, Jake Jr., and John Edling. Numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends were also near and dear to her heart. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Corsicana, reception following.
